((ok so this is a little early but oh well))
So Hayden had been inside the Hogwarts castle many times, but it was different at a first year, instead of a guest. It was still an experience for him to walk into the castle without his mother following him, or even his cousins. They manged to make this day a special day for him, seeing how he loved school, and how they rarely did. He was glad that his sister wasn't around to mess it up, or even his mother oh man, she would probably be crying her eyes out over the fact that her little man was all grown up, and some how he wished that his Aunt Kris was there. He still lugged around the bear she got him.
Hayden was a little nervous even though he had entered and knew his way around the school better then most kids his age, and he didn't even read the Hogwarts history. That was the wonderful thing he had been learning how to use magic since he was a little child. even though his aunt tried to get him not to use it so much but he was far beyond all of the other first years at the school.
Hayden wanted to be early so he could get a good bed, and a place by the window in the dorm rooms. He hoped he would meet some of the older students that he didn't already know. He wished he would run into someone he knew, other than his family, and that didn't know him by his family. Hayden looked around the entrance hall and noticed that no one was really around, but students were in the school. So he was glad he wasn't the only student here early.
Hayden was so wrapped up in his own thoughts that even though he was an em-path, and a telepath he didn't realize that someone else was near the entrance hall, which was odd for him because he knew a lot of things, that he didn't want to know. So maybe he was getting better at blocking everything out or he was really stressed about school even though it hadn't began yet. He would later guess it was the stress.
((oh man how i have missed this))

Great, another year at Hogwarts. YES! Another year where she could totally bust on some new secrets, hey a girl did not give up to easy. Being stuck inside a wall did not scare her all that much. She got over it, and with things as they where going she figured they would be a bit lighter on those stupid rules. Maybe she would go to class more often…that was highly unlikely.
Dressed in real clothes as she would put it, she was not putting on that dreadful uniform until she had to. A girl has to look classy! Some black combat boots over blue skinny jeans and a stripped long sleeve v-neck shirt she was glad to be back at the place where anything was possible. Her bother had already headed off before her and her sister, as always. And Melinda was gone in a bolt to visit her friends that she hadn’t seen in a while, leaving Miranda alone at the entrance hall.
“Hey Kid.” She said bumping him slightly on the shoulder. “Aint you the one who got me out of the wall last year?” she smiled, he had to be a first year now, he was visiting the school or something before. Not that she cared, he was adorable! Like a little teddy bear, hey like the one he had with him for sure.
“Official student these days?” she grinned at him, her things where already sent to her room, her parents did that way to early, like they wanted her out of the house. It did not matter to her, she found plenty to do over the summer, and sneaking away to Florida in the US for a beach party was only one of the things she and her sister did.
“It’s cool, your gonna fit right in here.” She said messing up his hair; she was really a sweet girl, just slightly misunderstood. Like him her family had bad connotations with it. And she had the added slice of being in Slytherin, who could have figured that.
(i know, and I need a new siggie! how about you?)

Alice walked up the sloping lawns towards the school soaking wet. On her way accross the lake with the other first years she was frightened by a spider in her boat, and in trying to get away from it she fell into the water. She looked down at her wand feeling like it was useless where as she did not yet know any spells that she could use to dry off. No all she could do was alter her appearance so that people wouldn't know it was her though she didn't really see a point in it. This way she would be able to better judge for herself whether the people she met were good people or not.
She reached the great oak doors that led into the school and took a deep breath. She was beyond nervous of what would come of the school year. She didn't know if she would like the school or if the people in the school would like her. She didn't know many people outside of her family except for a few muggles in her neighberhood. She would also be the first in her family to attend the school since it had been shut down due to the massacre before she was born. This just added to her nervousness.
She let out her breath and pushed open the doors. She was glad to see that there were only two people in the entrance hall to witness the state that she was in. There was a boy who looked to be about her age, and he looked like he might be just as worried about the school as she was. Then there was a girl who was obviously older than her that was ruffling the boys hair. She hoped the girl would not try the same with her. As nervous as she was she decided that it would be best for her to make the introduction herself. She put on her sweetest smile and walked right up to the pair. "Hi I'm Alice Potter."

(I know I should have waited for Hayden but it was just too temptin! won't post untill you both do next SO glad to have the site going again!))
It wasn’t too soon after she was ruffling the kid’s hair a little girl came in soaking wet. She seemed like she was pretty well adjusted as she introduced herself. Miranda shrugged her shoulders. “Hey, don’t tell me they pushed you off the boat.” She said, she did not laugh but looked to see if any other kids where wet too. “I’m Miranda Vine, you know a spell to help her out kid?” she turned to Hayden, as much as Miranda was trouble she did like to get others to use magic. And Hayden had a good idea of it she could tell.
And as she looked at the two, she could feel that soon if not sooner that she would be a third wheel in this first year fest. However as she was trying for the life of her remember the boys name she knew the girls last name, who didn’t. She did not fret on it though, ah what is in a name, would a rose smell as sweet by any other name… her thoughts digressed. Sure Miranda could have jolted her with a air spell, but what would that do? She rather have people learn for themselves. Lets face it she did not see herself hanging out with these kids all the time, that would be so uncool!

Hayden was glad that the first person he seen at Hogwarts was not family, he didn't think he could deal with that mess of people. He was glad to have gotten away this long with out someone from his family showing up to ruin this moment of breath taking awe. He smiled as the girl walked up to her, he knew her from when his mother was in the castle, and she got stuck in the wall, that was an interesting night. When he made it back his mother was in suck a panic that he wasn't around when she got back. He chuckled at the memory.
"Hey Miranda" he said in his little cute kid voice, that just about everyone adored, but somehow he hated his voice, some days he thought he should be older than he actually was, but that wasn't going to happen, he was now at Hogwarts and as long as he remand there he would age like everyone else. "Yes i rescued you and i believe it was River" he said with a smile on his face.
He wasn't fully in the Hogwarts attire, he was almost there with the black pants, but he had on a white tee-shirt. His robe was in his trunk, or maybe it was still at the house, he couldn't remember he was so nervous, and excited. "Yup its official or well it will be at the sorting ceremony." He smiled and was glad that it defiantly wasn't family there to see him first. He didn't mind that she ruffled his hair everyone did it to him so it didn't bother him that much.
This time he did noticed someone else's feeling, but didn't act on them. The feelings were of nervousness, just like him, most likely another first year, but who knows others might feel nervous about being here also. He looked as the Oak doors opened up and he seen the soaking wet girl walk through the door, and towards them. He gave his smile that most adults melted with, as the girl walked up to him.
"Hello Alice, I'm Hayden Riddle" he said with a smile and stuck out his hand for her to shake. He was raised with a little bit of manors, even though he was raised in the Riddle family. His mom and his aunt Kris made sure that he was raised properly, he couldn't say the same for Rose though, his younger sister who would start school next year for which he was glad.
He sort of forgot about Miranda being there until she asked him if he new a spell to dry her off. "Well lets see" he said pausing to think, he tried to remember the spells he learned, but none of them to dry up water. "Nope sorry i didn't learn that yet, but maybe this might help" he said as he pulled out his wand and smiled. "Accio towel" he said in a clear voice, and a towel appeared in his hands. It was a pretty soft blue, and white towel. He handed it to the girl and smiled. "This might help a little"

Alice smirked at the girls comment about someone pushing her into the lake. "Yeah I wish that way I wouldn't look like such an idiot. No there was a spider in my boat, and I fell out tryin to get away from it." She was glad when the girl asked the boy about drying her off. It would surely make things more comfortable. Unfortunately the boy didn't, but he used a summoning charm to get her a towel, and her jaw dropped as she accepted it. "That spell is a fourth year level charm. Well I'm not letting you out of my sight. You're dead handy you are. Then again your family is known for having a good grasp on magic." She smiled.
So this was one of the Riddles. Hopefully her parents were right and he would really be a nice kid. She had been looking forward to meeting one, and she got what she wanted right off the bat. She used the towel to start drying off her hair. After a few seconds she was obviously tired of it. She withdrew her wand. "Assio Robes." nothing happened. She tried several more times. She was beggining to get discouraged when on her twentieth time or so... "Accio robes." She got smacked right in the face with another set of here school robes. Even so she was still beaming with pride at the fact that she had managed it.
She took her bag from her shoulder, and reached into it taking out a black rock. "Peruvian instant darkness powder. Just one second." She through the rock to the ground and everything was instantly pitch black. It took near a minute to clear up, but when it did Alice stood straightening her now dry robes. She scooped the wet clothes off the floor and tossed them into a nearby broom cupboard. "Well now thats better." She spoke as she turned to the others with a smile. "Well I can't wait to be sorted. I better be in Gryffindor like the rest of my family. What house are you in Miranda."

“I hate spiders too. And we have some huge ones round these parts.” Miranda said not laughing at her at all, granted she would have just hexed the thing but that was her.
Miranda was expecting an air charm or something, because she had used those at his age, but Hayden came up with the summoning charm. “Sweet deal.” She said in confirmation of both Hayden’s actions and Alice’s reaction. It sure did seem like kids were learning their magic so much younger these days, Miranda was not one to talk her parents always where trying to show her, not so good spells and such, another reason she did not seem so grand in magic. Her magic caused trouble. It was indeed all in the training. Going to Hogwarts sure opened her eyes to another world.
Like any kid Alice then gave it a go, who could blame her it was a cool spell. Miranda was always trained to just conjure something up, but they really did frown on that here at Hogwarts. Something’s she understood, others not so much. “Check it out, another natural talent.” She commented when the robes came flying at Alice, “However I would practice with soft items for a while.” She slightly joked, and smirked. “You are going to fit right in.” she said when the room went black, now she liked that!
“That was awesome, some of that would really get me out of class.” She laughed, Miranda was not all into being in class that much, only when she was forced to or had nothing better to do.
Miranda was glad Hayden introduced himself, but from what she remembered he was pretty cool kid, raised a heck of a lot better then her own family. However to each their own. “You both are going to love the ceremony, its great. They do things a little different each year so it doesn’t get boring, but a lot of the older kids skip out if they can.” She said figuring that Hayden might have been to one already, she was not sure about that though. “I haven’t heard any news of what is happening this year though.” She shrugged.
“That’s cool, I am in Slytherin. Most of my family is there, but its all good. Gryffindor is a good house, good luck on that. How about you Hayden have any ideas on a house yet?” she asked him not really sure where he would be, he was really nice and did not fit into the same category as herself. She liked to try and peg what house someone one would be in, she thought Huffelpuff for Hayden, but she had been wrong before.
“Have any goals this year? I have been searching out all those secret places, they are great. The only benefit to have such an old school is there is a few really cool places.” She smiled and looked over at Hayden, “However last year I got stuck in a wall with another girl, but Hayden here got us out.” She said realizing that it might sound odd that he was already in the school. But it was not that big of a deal. “I guess he is good to keep around.” She joked, they were only two yeas younger then her, so it wasn’t like it was that bad, right?

Hayden looked at Alice and said "You can always tell everyone that you were pushed out of the boat, and you don't look like an idiot." He said to her, he was kind of liking her, but he didn't think it would go anywhere other then just friends. "Well i have been taught by a couple of great teachers growing up. I wouldn't mind to be of assistance" he said with a smile, looking at them.
He wanted to laugh and help her when she tried the summoning charm, but he just let her go so she could do it on herself. He was glad that she finally got it, or he might have had to help her out. He looked with interest as she pulled out a black rock, he wondered why he had never heard of them before, but that was ok, he would go and ask his mom or even his aunt Kris after the start of the term feast. He looked on with an astonishment, when the black cloud disappeared, and she was in her dry robes. "Cool" he said with a smile on his face, it didn't take much to get him to think something was cool.
He shook his head slightly at Miranda's comment, "I wouldn't go and try bird cage, just yet" he said and smiled and turned to Miranda "I think there was talk about bringing someone else in, but i don't know who, thats all i got from the students or the people walking through." he wasn't really all that much into the conversion, his attention drifted else where with the whole empath and telepath thing going on.
"My house i want is Ravenclaw but i would be ok in just about any house, to me houses don't really matter to me" he said and smiled at how Alice wanted to be in gryffindor. "i don't think every potter was in gryffindor i believe that our Head mistress was in slytherin Karalynn Malfoy" he said to her. He tended to be a know it all, even though he didn't mean to.

She raised an eyebrow at the girl as she said she was in slytherin. The one house she wanted nothing to do with. Her aunty Roxy had told her that slytherins were nothing more than slimeballs that should be usefull only as targets of pranks, but this girl seemed to be more than that which confused her. "Well I don't care for slytherins not at all, but I guess I can make an exception for you, but don't tell any one." She said with a grin.
"Well I guess I could do that, but in lying I won't really know if people like me for me now would I. No I think I'll just tell the truth, and if anyone makes fun of me for it I'll slip them a canary cream." She turned to look towards the door wondering where all the other first years were. True she was a very fast swimmer and it had taken her very little time to get out of the lake, but she'd have thought that the others would have made it by now.
She turned back to the others thinking that she had already found the people she would be hanging out with while at the school though her family would probably look down on her for associating with a slytherin. "My mom says that she was in Slytherin because she was meant to be a Malfoy. They don't really count her when it comes to such things. Also most of my family went to beauxbatons because hogwarts was closed down while they were of school age."
She glanced at Hayden with a guilty look. "I do not say this in disrespect to your family at all. I understand that people do not turn out like there family members, but it disgusts me that the man that is the reason for the school being closed down for so long was set free. Jack Pitch Riddle should have been given the dementors kiss for what he did not put away until he was useful to the ministry. As I here it though his nephew Jack has scared him into hiding and he's probably fled the country."

“Na, I love the ceremony, and no one can beat the food. Hogwarts has the best house elves around. “ she said to Hayden, Hogwarts was like a tradition in itself, and you had to take part in the fun, and the boring to get the entire picture. “And that would be nice, The headmistress has done a crap load of work round here to get it in shape.” She said with a smile, sure the place still looked like an old dull looking castle, but that was just what she liked about it!
“I know what ya mean, granted I also get what Alice said too. My folks would have had a fit if I was not in Slytherin. But whatever that hat does it does it well enough.” She shrugged, then Alice suddenly seemed offended? No more of surprised and it was nice that she did not lie or anything and said it straight up.
“Eh, It’s all right I can be trouble when I want to be.” She said to Alice. “And The headmistress is rather cool, I hate that the houses are so um…” she was looking for the right wording. “I don’t know its not like a rival but its like a tag slamming you into a category.” She said looking rightfully confused, she was with Hayden on the houses, it was just a place to sleep at night, and have teams for sports easier I guess.
“You are a girl with guts. I’d deny it if anyone asks but you sure could give a few of these kids a good run.” She joked with her, so what she had judged her house, who really cared anymore?
“I want to join quidditch this year, either of you two play?” she asked curious. Rare that first years get to be on a team, but it never hurt to try. “But I don’t know how well I will make it, guess I will have to wait and see on that one.” she said to them. She wondered about the things and trouble she would be doing this year. “Well they do got a new Ministry stuff going on from what I read in the papers, maybe things will turn around? “She said not wanting to really say anything about either family, because she did not know about it, not like they must.

Hayden smiled at the Canary Cream comment. "I guess that would work too" he said and looked at her. "The food is really good i like the food here" he said talking to Miranda. "I guess it all about your family as to what house your placed in or what you are destined to do" he said with a small smile on his face. "I know my mom's mom was in slytherin, my mom is in slytherin, my dad was in slytherin, just about my entire family was in slytherin, im hoping to be in some other house then slytherin" he said talking about the houses.
"I believe that you as a person pick your house and the sorting hat just picks it out of your head, i mean look at Harry Potter when he was being sorted he was thinking anything but slytherin, so i think he was placed in Gryffindor, because thats where he really wanted to be placed, with his friends, or the people he would most hang out with" he said being a know it all again. "The first years are still outside" he pointed out not meaning to he still couldn't control his powers. "Im sorry i should have been reading your emotions or even your thoughts, im an empath and a telepath, makes for a crazy day" he said realizing that he had picked it out of Alice's head and her not saying anything.
Hayden looked at Alice and then to Miranda he really didn't care what people thought of his family, he hated them he loved them they were family to him. "Well i do know that Jack Pitch wont be back for a long while or ever if he knows what is good for him, my mom is ready to rip him into a million pieces, so is my Aunt Kris" he said to her. "Oh i think i'll be sitting on the sidelines for a few years quidditich can be a very long game, and so many people could get hurt, i think i'll stick to the sidelines" he said with a smile.

Alice listened as they talked about the hogwarts food, and how good it was. She knew how goo the food was where as the oldest house elf at hogwarts was her family's house elf Kreacher that had once belonged to Harry Potter himself. The elf was actually the oldest of his kind, and yet he worked more efficiently than your average house elf. Her family believed that Kreacher fought hard to stay alive and working for all of these years to make up for his original betrayel to Harry Potter.
THen they were back on the subject of houses. "Well I don't think my family would be mad at me if I didn't get into Gryffindor, but they might be if I was put in slytherin." She leaned back against the wall as Hayden spoke and he even mentioned her ancestor, and she smirked. "You might have something there, but I think that only works if you have attributes that are prised by multiple houses. Like I don't believe that an ignorant person could get into Ravenclaw no matter how hard they may think to the hat that thats where they want to go."
She was about to try and change the subject to a more interesting topic when Hayden commented on something that she had not said, but thought. She turned to look at him as he realised what he had done, and began to apologize for it. She put an arm around his shoulders. "It's okay I don't mind I'm pretty much an open book. Most times I say what I'm thinking out loud anyways. This way I can tell you things without any one else hearing. Plus you'd make the perfect lookout. I bet you can hear a persons thoughts and feel their emotions before they even get to you right?"
She smirked as she thought that she may have found the perfect friends for her right off the bat. Another trouble maker to help her with her pranks, and the best look out that anyone could hope for. With these two she could cause a good amount of mayhem, and where as she planned to target mainly Slytherins Miranda would be a great help. "Actually my families had me playing quidditch since I was six. I can play any position though I want to be a seeker."

Hayden sure did know a lot about things, Miranda did not have that much energy to care never mind learn about it. However they picked the houses really did not care to her, it was just part of the deal. She would still be the same person in Gryffindor or Huffelpuff. She was sure that her knowledge of some spells could have helped persuade the hat, if that was possible.
“Your just full of surprises.” She smiled at Hayden having known something about his powers since he found them thought a wall. She never had really asked though, it was not that big of a deal to her, it was cool, yes, but they all had magic right?
“That must suck having things like that happen in the family.” She said not really getting in it. She did not have any real famously known family, but they all had worked under people like Voldemort and Jack.
“Threw stone walls too. That was how he found River and I one day slightly freaking out in one of the chambers, right kid?” she said confirming his keen ability to know when someone was coming, This Alice girl knew her stuff, but Miranda liked the thought of getting away with things on her own too.
“Sweet, I want to do Seeker to.” She said to Alice. “But I know it is long and wicked brutal, but Seeker has the best job and away from all the pounding. But a lot is pinned on seekers too, because it takes them to end the game.” She said to Hayden as well. The game was fun, and lets face it, Hogwarts did not have all that many other options…

Hayden smiled and listened to Alice's thoughts on the houses, he liked hanging out with the two girls, they were better then his family that was for sure. He was glad to have made friends like them. His mind turned else where for a moment, focusing, on his surroundings, but there was nothing there other then the students still outside, and in the school. He really did like the school and now he would like the school year, thanks to Alice and Miranda.
He listened to Alice, and was about to say something when Miranda chimed in with him saving her and River. "Well, there is a catch, if i have met the person i can hear them from any place they are in the building, or in the area." he said then paused. "But if its someone i have never met they have to be in 7 feet for me to hear or sense their emotions." He looked at both of them. "I haven't fully mastered my powers yet, but im on the way to get there." He said with a smile on his face.
"Every position is very brutal, because at any time you can be hit by a bludger, and that could be very dangerous, maybe even fatal" He paused and thought "Even though i haven't read or heard about anyone dying from a bludger hit." he said lightly. "Well i hope you guys get on the teams, and get your positions you want, I'll be on the sidelines cheering you guys on." He said smiling. "Did you guys enjoy your summer" he asked remembering he hadn't asked them that yet, and thinking of it as rude of him not to ask.

((SHH, Alice i am sneaking a post in!)
Miranda was having fun learning how cool Hayden was, he was a top notch kid, and she could see him getting into some trouble in the future. But hey, maybe hanging with him would get her off the hook at times, since he was such a good kid. However it could turn sour too, headmistress not liking Miranda causing trouble with her relative… relatives. Whatever it was she was not going to be worried about it, what happens happens, she always said.
“Wow, that is really exact. You going to be a scientist or something someday?” Miranda asked Hayden, she was not a know it all, or even a know a little. She was street smart in a way, she handled the day to day, and did not worry too much about anything else.
“Yea, it is but as long as everyone plays by the rules its good. I know it sounds funny, but if I don’t get seeker I want to go for keeper. I can be quick on my feet, perhaps in the air too.” She laughed a little. She really wanted to be seeker, but deep down she loved keeper position, but it scared her a little, just like Hayden said. Not to mention the countless athletes that where pegged off in that position. But it would prove to her parents that she was tough, a real strong one in the family.
“I had a blast, my sister an I snuck away to Hawaii for a beach party.” She said but knelt in and whispered, “but shh it’s a secret…” she giggled. Her parents knew, but what would they say, don’t use your magic, they where probably glad to have two twin girls out of their hair for a while. “Other than that nothing too interesting.” She said with a smile, “What about you?” she said looking at Alice, she could read trouble all over that one, this was going to be a good year…
