Jack sat on a small ledge right in front of the giant clock at the top of big ben. He wore a smile accross his face as he looked out over London. Since they had gotten rid of Jon Lestrange his uncle had remained hidden, and all was quiet. There hadn't been any problems in months, and instead of Jack being out and about fighting evil all the time he had been able to stay home with his family. He could not be happier everything was going perfectly. He knew that this could not be expected to last forever, but as long as it did he would be enjoying it.
He looked accross the night sky toward London Bridge the very last place he had seen his uncle. He wondered what had become of the man that so enjoyed torturing the wizarding world. Was it possible that the ministry had captured him, and had just not said anything? He'd like to think that should such a thing happen that Adam would have at least told him, if not Kristina and Nico as well. He leaned back against the clock as he thought of the fun he had been having with his sister since their uncle disappeared, and the times he had shared with Nico in the late hours of the night after the children had gone to bed.
Jack had chosen this spot ontop of big ben because it was where he and Kris had come when they were just kids after a particularly good day just to cap it off with an amazing view. Tonight though it was to cap off an amazing summer. In the morning he would return to his job at hogwarts for the beggining of the school year. A school ytear that was bound to be complicated where as his oldest child Hayden would be attending, and he would have to try to give him as much space as he could. He knew if he were in his sons position he would not wat his parents constantly checking up on him just cause they worked at the school.
Jack looked around wondering where Kris was. He couldn't start a show of sparks in the sky without her. Of course the muggles below would think of it as a fireworks display like they had every other time they had done it. Jack knew that Kris tried her best to abide by the law, but he was quite sure that she would make an exception for the sake of tradition. They had not yet once broken their tradition when ontop of the clock tower. He looked down at his watch wondering if his sister would show. True he had not asked her to, but he had never had to ask her to meet him here before. It was just a mutual understanding that when things were really good they were to meet here.

Summer treated Kris and her family well. It seemed like the wizarding world was calm too. No big stories to break, and only her advice column to worry about. She was not into all the reporting that the prophet had her doing, but her name, they said, sold more papers. Whatever the case was she was an employee with the paper, and had to write what she was assigned. She was doing well, her kids would start school next year, which would be great, not that she did not love them, but a girl needs some time to herself!
Parenting was so different that anyone could have expected, her niece and nephew grew too fast, and her own children had little childhood. Magic was so complex, she wondered about it all the time.
She had a sitter for the night, she wanted to get out and take some time. That was when she thought about Jack and the tower. It had been some time since they had been there, and she wondered if he even thought about it after everything that had happened in recent years. Their lives had changed so much.
She was on the streets looking up at the tower and the clock, for some reason she knew Jack was there. No it was not magic it was family. A few seconds later she was behind him, “You know this is not a tourist attraction.” She said balancing on the ledge before taking a seat next to Jack. It was one of the things that made being a witch worth it, being able to see and do things so simple and easy as this, not casting spells, or shooting fire from nothing. This was the simple serenity of magic.
“Did Hayden get his new Owl?” She asked having sent it to him before he had to leave for school. She thought about so many things to give him, and an owl was a great gift, and quite a step of responsibility too.

Jack smirked as his sister appeared next to him. Though most people would find it odd how after four years of mayhem, and not even stopping to consider their childhood meeting spot, they both showed up at it the same night. This wasn't as odd as it may seem though for Jack, and Kris it was quite normal. Having grown up in the time after their uncles massacre at the school they suffered much persecution from the wizarding world, and had come to rely on each other. No siblings could have been closer, and though they were so different they still shared many similarity's and both still held on tothe past.
As Kris sat down Jack put his arm around her shoulders and pulled her in close to his side. "He did get it, and he was thrilled. Though for some reason I suspect that the majority of the trips the bird will be taking will be to your house." He smirked at his sister as he withdrew his wand. "This would be a tourist spot if it were as easy for tourists to get up here as it is for us." With a small flick there was a blast of blue sparks in the air infront of them. He turned to his sister expectantly.
Jack was thrilled to have this time to spend with his sister seeing as once he returned to the school oppertunitys for such meetings would be severely limited up until the christmas break. Thinking of the Christmas break reminded Jack of something he had wanted to talk to his sister about. "I've been thinking of selling the house. The place is so full of bad memories. It has seen dark magic the likes of which many couldn't even imagine, and I don't want my family to be there should he return." He spoke of their uncle of course, but he was sure Kris would know who he meant. "I wanted to talk to you about it though because the house is just as much yours as it is mine."

It was hard to imagine these two people even being related at times, but they where always there for each other, no matter how angry someone got. Kris had really made the break from the family, and it was difficult, and proved that you could not really break all the family ties after all. “That is great.” She smiled Hayden was such a good kid.
“Well, that is what Auntie’s are for.” She said with a smile, she did enjoy giving gifts and spending time with the kids.
“Sure, but then it wouldn’t be as good.” She said having some purple sparks fling from her wand. It was a reminder of a simpler time.
“Honestly, You should just gut the place.” She said seriously, then smiled at Jack. “Anyone who would want to buy it sure wouldn’t for sentimental reasons.” She said not having any plans to return there herself, she enjoyed where she was, and had no plans on moving anytime soon.
The house was old, and had seen its share of bad things. Growing up there was hard, and clearly leaving school and home at 16 she was a fighter no going to give up. It was just a house, “But It’s up to you.” She said hating all the times their family tried to prove they where the worst, for one could any of them try to prove they are good? Then again that would likely backfire too…

Jack looked at Kris with a grin. "You know I could have never asked for a better sister. You've done so much for me. You've saved my ass on numerous occasions, you've always been there for me when I needed you, and most importantly you took care of my family when I could not. IThere aren't words to tell you what that means to me, what you mean to me." Jack flicked his wand and a great glowing white orb appeared in the sky above them. It exploded in an enormous blast of white sparks.
He turned to look out accross the city. He wondered if their sadistic uncle was down there somewhere. He hadn't seen or heard from him since the middle of the last school year when Jack had managed to over power him, and he ran. He owed it all to his skills with fire. Though he had more power over the air he was much more skilled with fire. Hopefully the man was dead somewhere, but Jack higly doubted it. No he was out there somewhere scheming up a new way to take over.
He turned to Kris with a look of amusement. "I'd gut the house if I could. Don't you remember all the charms Dad put on the house to keep us from burning it down when we were kids. Especially after you set the dining room table on fire when you sneased. Those charms keep me from being able to do anything to it." He couldn't help grinning at the memory of their older sister and their parents jumping back from the table in fright as Jack laughed at wha his sister had done.

“Jack don’t be so melodramatic.” She said shooting a soft flowing purple and light green like trail of lights out behind his. Jack was such a mix that few understood him, and even Kris had her moments of confusion, but it was all still working out in the end. Kris did not try to think about their uncle, or of anything bad that could happen, because if she thought about the future she just might see it. She lived in the present and it worked for her.
“Don’t remind me of that it was horrifying! I still hate that all these powers are like inbred into our DNA or something. But I got to live with it, can’t keep ignoring it now can I?” she said having always tried so hard to get rid of her own powers she could have done great at the Ministry, but she did not want that life.
“Come on, it could be a good challenge for the family. You are always trying to teach them more about magic, and I am always telling them to take it slow.” She added, her kids did not like that but where good when she was around at least. “We could make it a museum, it’s creepy enough.” She laughed sending a spiral of colored lights out in the sky.

Jack smirked at Kris as she called him melodramatic. He knew it sounded like something out of a chick flick, but it was how he felt, and he wanted to make sure that she knew how much it meant to him. He turned back to the sky and with a flick of his wand yellow sparks appeared in the air in the shape of a smiley face. He wondered how many confused muggles were staring up at the sky wondering what kind of fireworks they were seeing.
"You know it is because of you that I encourage them to use their powers. I don't want them to be corrupted by their powers like I once was, but through you I've seen what can happen to someone who avoids using them. I wish that there was a way that I could help you, but there isn't so I try to make sure the same does not happen to any one else that I care for." He turned to look at his sister hoping that she wouldn't take his words the wrong way.
HE decided that it may be best to just drop the subject so he decided to move on to a different topic. "The biggest reason I want to get rid of the house is because tomorow I return to Hogwarts and I don't want Nico, and Rose there alone. You never went to his castle. You didn't see the way he looked at Nico. It was like he thought that she would be his greatest weapon. Even Jetta tried to orient herself around Nico. I am terrified that when I am gone he will come for her. I want her closer to me where I can protect her. I worry about you as well, but I know better than to try to persuade you into letting me keep watch over you. It would just result in a long and winded argument that I would lose in the end."

“Yea, you got me there, I proved that you can’t not use them, but I got my kids to use them sparingly, at least when I can. I know they are going about it when I am not around.” She said with a smirk, hard to believe these two people where already parents of preteens. That was their world though, and there are things that just can’t be changed.
It was nice to switch topics a bit, and Kris sent out a spiral of sparkles that where pink hearts and blue stars.
“I know things were really rocky, Hayden used to tell me all the time when he was with me.” She said having raised Hayden a lot more then Rose. During the blood king ride he spent most if not all of his time living with Kris and the Smyths baking cookies and talking all the time. It was nice and perhaps a little practice for her own kids…
“Well, Nico loves new things. So keep it a surprise and bring her to the new house. I would say close to Hogwarts but still in town you know? She likes all the magic hassle more then I do.” She said making suggestions. Nico and hr really grew at the school together, even how different they where from each other.
“Absolutely, that is one thing I can do very well.” She said nuging himm with her shoulder, Kris did not stand down and it was her way or no way. She had to break a little with her kids but it was still the same old Kris in there. “And I love my house, it’s perfect.” She said having it so close to a muggle and wizarding neighborhood really made things feel right.

Jack turned to look at Kris with sad eyes. "I don't know what the future holds for me, but I fear that in the end I will lose everything. As much as I love Nico sometimes I worry that she doesn't feel the same way about me. I am afraid that she will leave me." He shook his head as he looked out to the sky after his sisters spell not bothering to follow it with one of his own.
His thoughts turned back to the house he had grown up in. "I hate that house, and I never want to see it again. If she refuses to leave it..." He put his face in his hands as he thought of the possibilities that upset him so. "If I lose Nico, and the kids I have nothing left. Sometimes I think that I should have stayed dead. Since I've been back I've only made things worse for them."
He lifted his tear stained face to meet his sisters gaze. "Perhaps I will just become one with the wind, and ride its breeze froever. No longer interacting and causing problems just being there. I can't do it until I know hes dead and no one will suffer his wrath again."

“I avoid the future.” She said looking at her brother, speaking slightly sarcastic as she really couldn’t avoid being a seer, a vision or dream is going to come to her without her having any say in it. She had came to terms with it though, but it did not mean that she had to like it either.
“Nico has always loved you, you are always so concerned with what if Jack.” She said not sending any more of her own fireworks out, Jack was always worried about what could happen, instead of what is happening and what is real. “You just need to have a rational conversation, don’t get all hot headed.” She said setting it out, Jack did have a temper, and he really did need to control it better.
“Well you know I am not going to get into that with you, but I will say is Nico has never once given you a reason to push away, so why now?” she asked, she remembered them dating at the school, she was there when they were married, and she was not going to see Jack throw it all away because he did not like is life. “You can’t live like that forever Jack.” She said to his thoughts of becoming the air.
“It is not your problem to worry about. I know I say it all the time but what he does shouldn’t effect your actions. Your obsessed with fixing things that you just can’t fix.” She said not getting frustrated and speaking as best she could without getting him mad, and she was confident that he could get mad, but she could take it, it wasn’t the first time.
“As for the house, I know she lives having a real place to call home, face it, she has made her life there too. So take time to make options. You are great at ultimatums, but that is not how a marriage works. Compromise. Find something you both can love.” She said. It was hard to think that she was the younger sister, but the Riddles grew up fast, and getting out when she did was for the better. She hoped that Jack would understand that it was not all about him, he had to consider others feelings too. Times change.
