HOGWARTS-This years start of term feast had more going on then previous years, but that is a good thing. Even in the dark times that we have been facing the night proved to be a great introduction for new students, and the attendance at Hogwarts school has increased 5 percent since last year. It sure looks like Headmistress Karalynn Malfoy knows what she is doing.
This year the school brought in some outside speakers to liven up the normal dreary evening. We all know it from our parents or our own experiences. It often is the repetitive garble that we all hear each year, but again we see that things are changing, and this time for the beter.
Minister of Magic Adam Cavan lead the first years into the school and preformed the sorting ceremony. In a twist of evens the sorting hat mentioned Cavan’s name in its traditional poetic chant. This years went like this:“yes, yes, four houses indeed.
Of that of Huffelpuff, sure you could
Pure of soul, a virtue to hold
Kind of heart, solid as the wood
None that needs to be told
Gryffindor is that indeed
Strong of heart, brave in mind
Bold should fear that of greed
You will always have time to find
That of a Slytherin
Not hard to find, bold yet misguided
Mind and heart, only where to begin
Not everything is single sided
No not least but last is yes
Ravenclaw the wise, fine, and prudent
Those who know one should never just guess
Will make a fine and advanced student
Tough to proceed
Don’t you stampede
Cavan will read
Beware of the one that can mislead…
Who knows and figures out what the hat is talking about is still beyond me, but if anything it is entertaining.
Deputy headmistress Aramay Garden said some nice words and Neveah Binks was the special surprise to students. She showed them was drive and confidence can do. Being school aged herself she was an inspiration to many younger students.
The night was filled with laughter, warm thoughts and new friends. A great start to the school year, and hopefully a signal of good times ahead.
